FS: 1996 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - $2300 OBO
Okay guys, plans have changed and one of my potential winter project car has to go!
YEAR: 1996
MODEL: Civic Hatchback
TRIM: CX
COLOUR: Milano Red
KMS: 400,XXX
TRANS: 5 Speed Manual
Yes, you read right... the car has 400,XXX kms, but it does NOT show it's age. I bought this car off the original owner, who babied it since new. He drove it daily until 3 years ago when he used it strictly as a winter car. The car was repainted 4 years ago and still shines like new. The only exterior blemishes are a scuff on the front bumper, a couple scratches on the rear bumper, and some rust on both rear 1/4 panels. The underbody is in immaculate condition and the car has never been involved in any major accidents (original rad support, rear firewall, front & rear rebars, doors, 1/4 panels, etc.). From what I was told and can see, the front bumper was replaced after getting bumped in a parking lot. He also had the timing belt and water pump replaced at 375,000kms.
The interior is super clean, it's almost as if he drove the car solo most of the time as the only seat that shows wear is the driver's. The OEM floor mats have always been in place so the car's carpet is extremely clean and in amazing condition. The car has been sitting since April of this year, but it started up on the first crank and I drove it home with no issues at all.
The car is bare-bones, ie. no A/C, P/S, Rear Wiper, Pass. Side Air Bag or Pass. Side Vanity Mirror). I was planning on doing a full build up, but I found a good deal on something I wanted originally, an Integra chassis.
EDIT: I have posted both cars, just to see which car will sell first
The reason why the original owner decided NOT to drive it this winter was because the car needs a new clutch very soon, it slips in pretty much every gear. Other problems include:
- The exhaust manifold is cracked (a common problem with all non-VTEC EK's)
- The inside hood release handle broke off (another common EK issue)
- The driver's side window regulator is off track
- The centre climate control is cracked (probably from a bad radio installer)
- The coil try is missing
- The OEM trunk carpet is missing
- The idle valve needs replacing (I think I have a couple lying around)
- The driver's side seat is ripped.
As well, since the car has been sitting so long, the brakes are shaky. I'm trying to be completely honest so you know what to expect, but those are the pnly issues that come to mind so it's pretty amazing that it has 400kms.
I looked at a bunch of EK's in this price range, all with 250,000+ kms and nothing even came close to the condition of this one. Not to mention, they had all been in previous accidents or had 14 previous owners.
All the panels line up nice and tight on the car and it drives perfectly straight. The underbody is super clean and it does not leak anything. The car honestly looks like it has under 200,000kms.
This car is the ultimate project car, since the body doesn't even need to be touched, or with a couple hundred bucks and some used parts, the ultimate cheap daily driver.
I'm asking $2300 OBO and the car's located at Defcon/A.R.T. Motorsports in Thornhill. Come see the car in person to appreciate it, THEN make me an offer.
PM or e-mail me at vince.h@rogers.com if you have any questions or want to arrange a viewing.
I will post up pictures tomorrow afternoon
