I work right around you. Can you get me a quote on some good winters on steelies? I'm thinking 15"s, unless you recommend otherwise?

I have used a few treads over the years.... so far best bang for the buck is Canadian Tire... Goodyear Nordic. Fantastic snow grip (really needed for FWD cars).
Kijiji is excellent for deals but you are getting used tires. So 50% worn tires on used rims should be far less in price than new.
But what do you need for the future? Do you plan on keeping your ride for another 3-5 years? If so go new and get spare rims!
If only 1-2 years go kijiji with whatever you find. even 14's are OK.
I also suggest to you and everyone stick to 195 width or less!
I have been using 185/60-15 Continentals on my teg for 4-5 years. Narrow is better. It bites through the snow getting traction whereas wider platforms will ride top and "slip" more.
This is proven by looking at rally cars. 3300 lb rally STi's have treads 195 or 185 in winter tires but come with much wider treads for street use.
Don't be too concerned with name brand either. Look at the tread. The more chunky the grippier in deep snow and the more "sipes" (little squiggly lines on the tread") then the better ice traction.
I would not recommend grabbing used winter tires with less than 50% tread or with sipes worn off.
Good luck!

My Dad linked me up with a place near his work...
Steelcase Tires n' Mags...
They're in Markham, apparently the line up is out the door right now though cause they have amazing deals...
He gave me an offer of 4 14" winters with mounting, balancing, etc. at $86.00 ea.
Unfortunately, he forgot to jot down the brandname, so I will see at the end of the month when I reach there.
just google "Steelcase Tires n' Mags".

Most place you will see about a $20 difference on the tires, as tires are not one thing that shops can make money on, as the customer and just go to another place and get them cheaper there.

I got a good deal on all-season from Brampton Tire World, there prices for winters are pretty good. But i bought a set of goodyear nortics from Kijiji.
The only things is Brampton Tire Worlds deals all with " off brands" i.e. tires made by good year or donlop but with a no name stamp.
